Muslim Rage and "Gazi" Ilm-Ud-Din

It is general perception that Muslim rage is a recent phenomenon is it really so ? . If we look into the history one of the earliest recorded incident of Muslim Rage in sub-continent  was as early as 1920 .Rage was due to a book called "Rangeela- Rasool" as a result  publisher of this book was killed by a fanatic Muslim by name Ilm-Ud-din. Intention of this blog is to present facts behind this Muslim Rage.

Written in 1920s Rangeela Rasool [Translation :  Colorful/Play boy Prophet Mohd (SAW) ] which is a salacious version of  Prophet Mohommed's life.   Book was written by  Krishan Prashaad Prataab with Pen name M. A. Chamupati .Book was published by lahore based publisher by name "Rajpal". Author agreed to publish the book on condition that his original name won't be disclosed .

This book is available in internet for download .I read the first few pages of this pocket size book of around 60 pages .Impression i got is that the book shows Prophet in poor light and book was written with malicious intention . Right from choosing the title of the book , preface , to describing SAW intention was always to show Prophet in poor light.

There was a massive public outrage and the emotions were whipped up by Muslim leaders  . Pressure was built up by community leaders to ban this book and arrest Rajpal.  Rajpal was arrested by British govt tried in court but was promptly acquitted as there was no law which could convict a 'blasphemer'.

Fanatics made Several attempts  to murder Rajpal , finally Ilm din a 20 year old carpenter killed Rajpal by stabbing him .Irony is Ilm-ud-din was an illiterate and had never read this book. Ilm-din was provked by inciting speech given by some mullahs .

Ilm -ud-din

After this murder a high profile trial  followed defense lawyer for Ilm-Ud-Din was 'secular' Mohd Ali Jinnah.   Despite pressure from Muslims in general and Muslim 'intelligentsia' in particular court ordered to hang Ilm-ud-din .  And on On 31 October 1929, he was hanged till death. Below is the excerpt from the court order:

That his assailant intended to cause death is established by the medical evidence which shows that he received no less than eight wounds, seven being incised and one a punctured one.  The nature of these injuries also show that Rajpal endeavoured to defend himself, for four of the incised wounds were on his hands.  He received a wound on the top of his head that cracked the right parietal bone, two incised wounds above the spine of the left scapula and a punctured wound in his chest.   This last pierced the heart cutting the fourth rib and caused almost instantaneous death.

On his funeral 'great' poet Alama iqbal who wrote "Sare Jahan se achha" was quoted saying:-

I am a sinful person not competent to do this job to lead the funeral of such a great warrior,...This uneducated young man has surpassed us, the educated ones .

After his death Ilm ud din was glorified by many articles, poetry  , books and films and justifying his heinous act  . Ilm-ud-din was given title Shaheed Ilm-ud-din Gazi (translation- Martyr, warrior Ilm-ud-din) .

Pakistani film glorifying 'Gazi'' Ilm ud din

Every time there is a talk of scrapping Blasphemy law in Pakistan Muslim leaders quote Jinnah and Mohd iqbal to defend this law.

This Muslim Rage isn't a recent phenomenon but a deep rooted dogma . Blaming politics , America , Hindus Jews won't help .
